As a status holder or as an expat, it is difficult to settle in the Netherlands. At House of Joy we want to help you. Attention to each other. Practice the language. Eating together. And that starts with this statement: You are welcome! You are loved!
As a refugee or as an expat, the Dutch culture is quite strange. And the language is difficult. At House of Joy we would like to meet you. To talk to each other. To help each other a little. So, a place to practice the language. A place to meet people. A place to ask your questions.
House of Joy is every Monday afternoon, from 15.30 until 19.00 o'clock. You can find us in the community centre Het Contact, Sandestein 42 in Nieuw-Vennep. We start at 15.30. Around 17.45 we eat together, everyone brings something.
After the meal there is also a special practice moment to speak Dutch. You can stay the whole afternoon or only come to drink a cup of coffee.

When I came to live in Nieuw-Vennep, I didn't know any people. I was invited to come to House of Joy and there I met people who wanted to hear my story. They could help me with speaking Dutch and also my kids loved being there and to play there.
House of Joy is organized by Christians in Nieuw-Vennep. They want to share love, attention and help with other people. Everyone is welcome at House of Joy. On the last Sunday of the month we organize House of Life: a place where Christians and people who want to know more about the Christian faith are warmly welcome. And, we mainly focus on people who are new in the Netherlands. So for example status holders and expats. We are intercultural.
